Bright is one of the most sought-after destinations for groups in Australia, positioned in North-East Victoria’s sub alpine region. Bright Chalet is a cosey Alpine Getaway in the heart of North East Victoria with scenic mountain views, offering a variety of charming accommodation. The Chalet offers the ideal blend of relaxation

and recreation that makes your group tour a very special trip. At Bright Chalet

we treat all our guest as special and give individual attention to all.

The Chalet was built in late 1988 in a European style. Our rooms provide King Size or Twin accommodation, all with ensuite, remote control television with in-house video and satellite available. We have a total of twenty-six rooms. All rooms are well equipped with reverse cycle air-conditioning and open onto a balcony. The Chalet is large enough to ensure guests are able to relax in spacious comfort. The Chalet has a delightful first-class restaurant and guests have a wide choice of food. Meals are provided in this package (except in transit). Breakfast consists of a buffet and cooked selection, and a delicious buffet is served at night, morning tea is supplied while on tour at the Chalet. There is a coffee lounge, a cocktail lounge, also a guest lounge with open fire.

 

5 Day Itinerary

 

Day 1: Dinner included. Depart Melbourne Monday 31 August at 10.00 am from your club at Seaford and travel to Bright, stopping for morning tea at Wallan. After a lunch stop (own cost) at Euroa, we travel to Bright passing Benalla and Glenrowan, then via the Ovens Valley Highway. While on route, we pass through the towns of Myrtleford and Porepunkah, then onto the Bright Chalet where you will settle in for four nights of great food and enjoyment (Bar will open & Dinner will be served on arrival).

 

Day 2: Breakfast / MT / Dinner. Bright is alive, with the backdrop of exotic trees ablaze in red and gold to provide a carpet of colours - and Spring harvest heralding the change of seasons. After Breakfast, we drive to Harrietville, visiting the bakery and the historic Gold Settlement. We then visit Wandiligong: a 10 minute drive from Bright. This picturesque /valley is classified a heritage town by the National Trust. The Alpine park provides a setting for a pleasant picnic lunch, to discover historic buildings and gold diggings and visit the largest apple orchard in the southern hemisphere. Back to Bright for lunch (own cost) and a wander around the street of Bright, maybe spending some time at the Bright Art Gallery. Heading home for dinner.

 

Day 3: Breakfast / MT / Dinner. After Breakfast we depart the Chalet at 8.30 am for a visit to Mount Buffalo and the Historic Mount Buffalo Chalet for a fantastic view of the Ovens Valley where you will have morning tea. An option this morning is to visit Mount Hotham and Dinner Plain (to see the Snow and Victorian Ski fields). We then travel to Albury for lunch and then visit the Bonegilla Migrant Centre. Before heading home for dinner.

 

Day 4: Breakfast / MT / Dinner. This morning we are off to the Pumpkin Seed Factory in Myrtleford. It is the largest producer of pumpkins seed products and has a great variety of tastings and sales. Then onto Beechworth, where we collect our tour guide. A beautiful and historic township. Our tour guide will take us on an hour guided tour of Beechworth, its history and historical buildings. There will be time to check out the old shops, wander around and find out more about Ned Kelly. The Lace Shop is a great place for the ladies to visit. The Beechworth Bakery is an award-winning attraction in Beechworth where everyone stops for lunch. The Rock Cavern has a great display of precious and semi-precious gemstones. Billson’s Brewery is a must, with the largest collection of bottles in the Southern Hemisphere. Beer and spirits are brewed here, and fine cordials are also made and sold. Purchase some honey from the award-winning Beechworth honey shop: tastings also available. From here we are off to the Red Stag Deer and Emu Farm: a most interesting place to visit: the talk on the deer and by-products of deer harvesting is very entertaining. Then it is time to return home and freshen up for dinner.

 

Day 5:  Breakfast/ MT. We depart the Chalet at about 9.00 am after a hearty breakfast to return to Melbourne. Just after Myrtleford, we turn onto the old snow road and travel via Milawa where we stop at the Milawa Cheese factory around 11 am (entry included) for a chance to purchase a variety of cheeses, all made on site. We stop the Milawa Bakery for morning tea. We then travel to the Hume highway, stopping for lunch at the roadhouse at Euroa, then onto Melbourne, arriving at Seaford at around 4.00 pm.
